Nickel Brook appoints Ian MacDonald as president

Burlington, Ontario-based Nickel Brook has appointed Ian MacDonald as president with co-founder John Romano transitioning to the role of CEO.

Romano will take a more hands-on role in the day-to-day operations of the company as a result.

MacDonald brings his years of industry experience to the company and will work with the founders and management team to “develop and execute a strategic vision” for a sustainable growth strategy.

MacDonald began his career at Labatt Breweries of Canada and later went on to hold executive leadership roles at Lakeport Brewing Corporation, the relaunched Steelback Brewery, Cott Beverages and most recently as CEO of Carib Brewery in Trinidad and Tobago.

Commenting on the appointment, Romano said: “Ian’s record speaks for itself, and he has always been a friend and supporter of Nickel Brook.

“He brings a strong understanding of what it takes to compete in an increasingly-competitive market, and how to grow our brand while staying true to our roots.

“His strategic thinking and belief in Nickel Brook will help us reach that next level we’ve all been working towards for the last 12 years.”

MacDonald said: “I’m excited to be taking on this role, and look forward to working with all the talented staff at Nickel Brook to help deliver on the potential I see in this amazing company.

“We’ve got the products, we’ve got the people, and we’re going to reinvigorate growth across the company.”
