Dominion City Brewing Co launch Drop Bear IPA

The brewery, established in 2014, said its latest beer is loaded with peach, melon and orange hop flavour.

Drop Bear IPA is a 6.5% beer that is brewed with Australian Galaxy and Summer hops and is the brewery’s nod to Australia’s unusually large and viscious marsupial, the Drop Bear.

The brewery explained: “Australia’s history as a hop growing region began in the early 19th century. The country’s success growing this key brewing ingredient is rumoured to have begun with English free settlers from Kent in the heart of England’s hop growing region.

“Australia’s hop growing industry supported local brewers for over a century before almost succumbing to the pressures of globalization and consolidation in the late 1980s and 90s.

“Today, small, largely independent craft breweries around the world have fueled renewed demand and a full-fledged hop-growing renaissance Down Under.

“Australia is now a major exporter of hops, highly sought after for their intensely tropical, delicate and complex character.”
