Moosehead broadens small batch portfolio

A London Stout and a White IPA are among the new beers to be produced at the Moosehead Small Batch Brewery and Taproom.

Brewed using the brewery’s brand new 20-barrel brewing system and 3-barrel pilot system, the new collection includes two Heritage Series beers, inspired by recipes pulled from Moosehead’s archives, and three Canadian Home Grown Series beers that pay tribute to Moosehead’s Canadian heritage.

“At our Small Batch Brewery, we like to say that every brew tells a story. And that couldn’t be more true in this first collection of beers that we’ve brewed – each of which celebrates 151 incredible years of Canadian brewing in unique ways,” said David Pearn, innovation brewer, Moosehead.

He added: “The response to these new brews at our Small Batch Tap Room has been incredible and we can’t wait for the rest of the country to try them.”

The new beers include Moosehead’s classic London Stout, first brewed in 1929, is creamy and full-bodied, with notes of freshly roasted coffee and dark chocolate.

Sugar Bush is a deliciously robust black lager features notes of coffee and chocolate infused with pure Quebec maple syrup, offering a slightly sweet finish.

First brewed in 1934, Ten Penny Stock Ale is a Moosehead classic. This light, well-balanced amber ale has a modest hop flavour.

This Stone Fruit White IPA is a Belgian witbier brewed in the IPA style. The addition of apricots sourced from British Columbia creates a refreshing, well-balanced beer that’s floral and fruity with a slightly tart finish.

Finally, Mountain Spruce features fresh spruce tips gathered in New Brunswick.

Moosehead’s new Small Batch Brewery is located at the company’s historic West Side brewery at 89 Main Street West in Saint John.
