One of the 16 Manitoba groups that got financing from the province last month as a result of their dedication to cutting carbon emissions is Neepawa’s Farmery Estate Brewing Company.

Farmery received $150,000 of the $1.5 million in funds given to these organizations by the government through the Conservation and Climate Fund in order to “reduce carbon emissions” from the manufacture of its beer production.

“Our government is proud to support these innovative projects that further reduce carbon emissions, create good jobs and build strong, sustainable and prosperous communities,” Environment and Climate Minister Kevin Klein said in a press release.

“These initiatives will advance our government’s priority to transition to a low-carbon economy, while maintaining our current status as one the cleanest economies in Canada and around the world.”

The Manitoba government established the Conservation and Climate Fund program in 2020 to provide funding for initiatives being carried out by municipalities, northern communities, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and municipalities to combat climate change and safeguard the environment.

The Farmery Estate Brewery opened in Westman in 2016, however Chris and Lawrence Warwaruk’s Farmery Premium Lager was initially distributed four years earlier.

The company’s brewing facilities in Neepawa use essential materials that are gathered from Farmery agricultural fields to produce beer.

On its official website, Farmery states that it is dedicated to environmentally friendly agricultural methods, quantifiable ESG (Environmental Social Governance) developments, a small carbon impact, and ethical consumer behaviour.
