Niagara College Teaching Brewery Collaborates With a Non-profit Group to Establish Scholarships for BIPOC Students

A brand-new scholarship aims to add some diversity to the craft beer industry.

In collaboration with the Niagara College Teaching Brewery, the craft beer-focused non-profit organization Link Up is giving a $5,000 scholarship to help a first-year BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) student pursue their passion for brewing.

Considering that $5,000 is almost half the tuition required for the full three-year program, that is a sizable sum.

“It has always been the vision of the Link Up organization to place BIPOC individuals on a track to key roles within breweries, whether that be in brewing, leadership or ownership. This scholarship truly feels like the first milestone to fulfilling that vision, and we can’t wait to follow the journey of the recipient,” says Tiffany Davey, one of Link Up’s Co-Founders.

While the brewing program at Niagara College is well-known for its high-quality educational offerings and successful outcomes for its students both within Canada and beyond.

Applications can be submitted now until October 9. Search for “Link Up” on the Niagara College Scholarships and Bursaries for Domestic Students page, then select “Download Form” to submit an application.

Along with the scholarship, Link Up will make use of their vast partnership network to offer the candidate mentoring during their three-year journey and assistance with a job placement in their industry.
